Abstract:Hydroxyapatite (HAp) contained in fish scales was dissolved in citric acid solution and needle-like HAp crystals were synthesized hydrothermally. In this case, heating for a period of more than 4 hours at 200 degree C was necessary to obtain the needle-like crystals. Size of the crystals was 1.6-3.1 mm long, 0.07-0.2 mm thickness and 10-41 aspect ratio. These crystals gathered mutually and formed fan-shaped lump.
