Abstract:CrSi2 based composites were fabricated by the pulse electric current sintering (PECS) technique and normal sintering technique. The sintering behaviors for these CrSi2 based composites were mainly investigated. The dense CrSi2 based composites with the addition of 5 50mol%NbSi2 were obtained at 1 100 degree C by PECS technique, although not by the normal sintering technique even at 1 400 degree C. Furthermore the relative densities of CrSi2/NbSi2 composites prepared by the PECS decreased with the sintering temperature. Young's modulus for these CrSi2/NbSi2 composites was evaluated. The microstructure of these CrSi2/NbSi2 composites was observed mainly by scanning electron microscopy. NbSi2 particles were homogeneously dispersed in the CrSi2 matrix.
