Cd Removal of Hydroxyapatite and Its Application to Magnetic Separation

Abstract:Hydroxyapatite ceramics were attempted as a scavenger for the magnetic separation process. In the present paper, some hydroxyapatites, pure hydroxyapatite and cattle bone, were ion-exchanged by mixing in a Fe salt solution for 2 hours. After drying ion-exchanged hydroxyapatites, they were heat-treated in an air atmosphere at 500 for 2 hours for magnetic seeding on the magnetic separation. Especially the ability of Cd2+ removal of magnetic-seeded hydroxyapatites was investigated through an ICP equipment. Hydroxyapatites with magnetic seeding treatments were carried out by the magnetic separation. Key Words:Hydroxyapatite, Magnetic separation, Cattle-bone, Scavenger, Ceramics
