Abstract:In this study, paying attention to the cost evaluation that was insufficiency on the method based on the minimization of total expected cost, an attempt was made to conduct Life-Cycle Cost Analysis intended for reinforced concrete piers which have a difference of initial seismic performance. Additionally, to define a corrosion phenomenon of reinforcement by salt damage as deterioration factor of reinforced concrete pier, the seismic performance was evaluated by reliability index in service life. Here is a result of an analysis. 1) Considering only initial seismic performance, the seismic performance could not evaluate in service time. 2) When paying attention to corrosion phenomenon of reinforcement by salt damage, it was long that the useful year of design has small longitudinal reinforcement ratio. 3) It was clear that the method based on the minimization of total expected cost was influenced by the maintenance strategy in service life.
